Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, associated charges, and your obligations during the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Greenock, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving license, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required, along with valid identification and proof of your current address. Please ensure you have valid payment information and a security deposit ready. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by phone, or at our Greenock office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle pick-up. All pricing is displayed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition it was collected, allowing for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when it was picked up, as refueling fees will apply if the level is lower. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please contact us as soon as possible, as late return fees may be incurred. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or additional charges that arise during your rental, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Guidelines
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Details about coverage and any applicable excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to minimize your financial risk. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you have opted for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or other risky behaviors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and within the specified passenger and weight limits. Operating outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Greenock is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to cases of negligence leading to death or personal injury, or instances of fraud.
9. Applicable Law in Greenock
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
Changes to Terms of Service
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
